Dear brothers and sisters,
Since the beginning there has been war, not the kind fought with swords or bombs, but a war older than creation itself. A war between the Lord of hosts, Yahweh, and the rebellious one who was cast down, Lucifer. Even before, let there be light, scripture gives us glimpses of a heavenly rebellion. In Isaiah 14:12-15, we read, how you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning, how you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations. He once dwelled among the heavenly host, but his heart grew proud. He said in his heart, I will ascend into heaven. I will exalt my throne above the stars of God. I will be like the Most High.” But he was not like the Most High. He was cast down, stripped of glory, removed from his post. And in Ezekiel 28:12-17, though the passage speaks to the Prince of Tyre, the words reflect a deeper truth, one of a being perfect in beauty, walking among the stones of fire until iniquity was found in him.
Lucifer fell. Then came the earth. Then came us. And now the stage was set. He roamed the earth, not with the full power he once held, but with cunning and wrath. And here is where things become personal. Lucifer couldn’t go to Adam directly, Adam walked with God, God visited Adam in the cool of the day that intimacy was a shield. So the serpent went to the woman, Eve. She wasn’t any less important, but she hadn’t yet walked as deeply in communion with God. So Satan used what he still had, his voice. And what did he do? He twisted God’s word. Did God really say, Genesis 3-1? That question still echoes today. He planted rebellion with half-truths. And Eve listened, and Adam stood silent. And in that moment, humanity fell, not just in action, but in heart. There was no concept of repentance yet, no knowledge of forgiveness. Had Adam cried out for mercy? Would things have changed? We don’t know.
But God, who gave us free will, honored their choice, and they were cast out, not abandoned, but removed from paradise. Even then, hope was given Genesis 3:15, he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel. A Redeemer would come, but Satan didn’t stop. He began flipping everything God created for good. Fast forward through time and look around. Isaiah 14:13 isn’t just ancient prophecy, it’s today’s reality. I will ascend, I will sit on the mount. And now, Satan has built his throne on earth, not a literal one, but a spiritual seat through deception, media, politics, even religion. Sin is no longer hidden, it’s marketed and the world? It’s blind. Some know the truth but choose silence, like Adam. Others have been desensitized. They’ve been lied to by leaders doing the enemy’s bidding. And the normalization of sin? It numbs the conscience. Time passes and people begin to believe Christ’s return is a myth. But what of the faithful?
What of the martyrs who gave their lives for the truth? They didn’t die for a metaphor. They encountered the living God, just as Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob walked with Him. So did they. But today, we can no longer see Him the same way because of sin. And many hearts, they only want what the world offers. That’s how the prosperity gospel was born, that’s why we now have secular Christian music. It’s all about me!, me!, me!. But Christ taught humility, He said, if anyone would come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me Luke 9:23. And yet, the word sheep has been twisted, the enemy now mocks God’s flock. They call us sheeple, as if we’re brainless but Jesus said, my sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me John 10:27. We aren’t blind, we discern, we watch, we obey and we are not many, we are the remnant. We are those who haven’t bowed to Baal, we are those who see the difference between truth and half-truth and we must rise.
Revelation 12:11 reminds us, they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives, even unto death. We were never meant to blend in, we were meant to stand out, set apart, not to win applause, but to speak truth in love, because Christ will return. The judge of the living and the dead is not late, He is patient. But when He comes, the time to choose will be over. So I write this, not to scare you, but to stir you, to remind you, to awaken you. Let us not fall into silence like Adam. Let us not be deceived like Eve. Let us walk in the spirit, let us worship in spirit and in truth, John 4:24. The battlefield is real. Guard your heart.
