Dear Beloved in Christ,
There is a truth burning on my heart today, and I must speak it plainly. Legalism is witchcraft. I say this because legalistic religion is less about the love of Christ and more about manipulating its congregation through distorted scripture.
It has no true love, though it pretends to. Outwardly, it wears a cloak of holiness, but inwardly it is rotten. Judgment and shame fill the halls of such churches, and many believers leave—not because they’ve abandoned faith, but because they’ve been wounded by a counterfeit form of it.
From Legalism to False Light
Yet, here is the danger: when believers leave such environments without truly following Christ, they often fall even further. They drift toward sensationalism, prosperity gospel, or mystical spirituality—chasing what is falsely called Christ consciousness.
It is like moving from worship without Spirit to worship without truth. Both are fatal errors. Scripture is clear:
“O foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you?” — Galatians 3:1
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” — Galatians 5:1
Paul did not use bewitched lightly. Legalism is spiritual manipulation, and manipulation is akin to witchcraft, as mentioned in 1 Samuel 15:23.
True Worship
Jesus said,
“True worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.” — John 4:23–24
But today, the body of Christ often lacks both. Without the Spirit, we are lifeless. Without truth, we are deceived.
This is why I believe small, Spirit-led gatherings are vital. The early church met daily in homes (Acts 2:46). They confessed sins to one another (James 5:16) and shared real fellowship.
Where two or three gather in His name, He is there. But in modern churches, people sit far apart, leave without greeting one another, and avoid deep conversation. How can we confess to one another in such a setting?
When the Church Marries the World
Where is the love when the Church marries the world?
Many churches now blend with politics and cultural trends. This is how pulpits have been opened to unrepentant sin—including practicing homosexuality—in direct defiance of God’s Word.
“Come out from them and be separate,” says the Lord. — 2 Corinthians 6:17
When the Church mirrors the world, it commits spiritual adultery. Where is the sanctification? It is no wonder some services now resemble concerts more than worship.
Paul warned us:
“The time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” — 2 Timothy 4:3–4
We’ve seen it—flashy lights, choreographed performances, false miracles, and the selling of “holy water” or “anointed oil” without testing the spirit behind it, as 1 John 4:1 and Matthew 7:16 teach.
Jesus drove such merchants out of the temple (Matthew 21:12–13).
Accountability and Fruit
Leadership must be held to biblical standards (1 Timothy 3:1–7, Titus 1:6–9).
Yes, we all sin, but the question is: do we hide it, justify it, or repent of it?
If a leader’s life does not bear the fruit of the Spirit, we must take note—and we must stop remaining silent.
“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” — Ephesians 5:11
We must read and meditate on Scripture daily, check the posture of our hearts, and pray for discernment so that we are not deceived.
Beloved, the devil would rather you stay quiet—but now is the time to speak truth, individually and corporately. Let us pour out the Spirit of truth, conviction, and change so that when the time comes, we will have no shame, just as 2 Timothy 2:15 calls us to.
The Call to Return
I urge you—seek Christ Himself. Walk in holiness. Worship in Spirit and in truth.
Do not trade intimacy with God for performance-driven religion or emotion-driven deception.
The remnant will be small, but it will be pure.
