What Paul wrote centuries ago is unfolding before our eyes—sin celebrated, truth rejected, and yet hope still remains.

In 1 Corinthians 6:9–11, Paul wrote words that cut to the heart:
“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”
This passage is not only a warning—it is also an invitation. God has always been clear: sin separates us from Him. Yet His mercy remains for those who repent and turn to Christ.
The Effeminate and the Abuse of Identity
Paul uses the word effeminate (Greek: malakos) referring to men who distort their God-given identity, abusing themselves contrary to nature. Today, we see this same distortion—not only men presenting themselves as women, but women attempting to become men.
What once was whispered in shame is now paraded in pride. “Rainbow churches” arise, teaching children sexual immorality. They preach “love is love” or “God is love”—yet Jesus Himself said:
“If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15).
“If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” (John 14:23).
Love without obedience is counterfeit. It is not love at all—it is rebellion dressed in glitter.
A Hardened Heart
The tragedy is not only in their actions, but in their response to truth. Many have hardened their hearts. Like Pharaoh, they resist correction, they become bitter when addressed by the name God assigned them, and they rage against those who stand on Scripture.
Romans 1:24–28 tells us of those who God “gave over” to their lusts and passions. But Paul also reminds us in 1 Corinthians 6:11—“such were some of you.” That means hope remains for the repentant.
Nothing New Under the Sun
These sins are not modern inventions. They echo Sodom, Gomorrah, and ancient rebellion. Ecclesiastes 1:9 says:
“The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.”
The difference today is scale. Technology, media, and global influence have made the world itself a modern Sodom.
Leadership Without God
In Exodus 18, Jethro—Moses’ father-in-law—spoke wisdom about governance. But it was not human wisdom alone. It was God’s Spirit giving structure: leaders chosen by fear of God, truth, and hatred of covetousness.
Yet today, leaders speak of God with their lips while their hearts are far from Him. Nations discard the blueprint of righteousness. Proverbs 29:2 declares:
“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.”
We are mourning now, because wickedness sits in high places.
The Final Call
Still, even in this age of glittering rebellion, there is hope. Some are hardened, but others are curious. They question. They sense emptiness. To them, Christ extends mercy.
Repentance is the doorway. Forgiveness is the promise. Transformation is the fruit.
The world may be Sodom, but Christ remains the Ark of salvation.
Conclusion
The command is simple. The truth is not complicated.
“If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
The question remains: Will we love Him, or will we love ourselves?
